Floradale opened a new public school in September 2009, and also has a newly constructed firehall. ==History== The first gristmill was built in the community in 1871 by Thomas Quickfall. Dan Bowman, the sawmill owner, bought the business in 1908 and built an overshot waterwheel, 21 feet in diameter and 8 feet wide. In 1926, the waterwheel was shortened to 16 feet in diameter. The mill was operated by Bowman's son, Ishmael, from the mid-1930s until the business was sold.
